JOB TITLE: Choir Director

JOB REPORTS TO: Rector
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Part Time
HOURS OF WORK PER WEEK: Average of 5 hours (more at Christmas and Easter)
SALARY: $4,500
JOB SUMMARY
Provide musical direction during one Sunday morning worship as well as special services and Holy Days as deemed appropriate by the Rector. Work with trained and untrained musicians and singers to provide a variety of musical styles and performances. Conduct rehearsals Sunday mornings, two evenings per month, and as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Select choir anthems, learn and review music for services and develop interpretations.
- Prepare for rehearsals, including technical, musical, theological and performance difficulties of anthems and other worship music.
- Manage music budget to build and maintain the music library.
- Participate in Worship Committee meetings, as needed.
- Collaborate with the organist.
- Maintain communications with choir members.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must have education and experience in music
Experience as a Choir Director is required
Skills as a pianist is highly desirable
