New Member Ministry Commission
Helping to make Christ Church a welcoming home to all
chaired by Suzi Zafrano at 972-1842 or redjewel46@aol.com
The role of this group is to help introduce the ministry of Christ Church to newcomers and to introduce newcomers to other parishioners. This commission is responsible for the Newcomer Packet you are now reading, for occasional newcomer dinners and events, and the creation of other avenues to help new people assimilate into the Christ Church family of believers.
PURPOSE: To welcome and help introduce the ministry of Christ Church to all visitors in an attempt to add new members and to keep the attrition rate to a minimum.
MEMBERSHIP: Vestry liaison(s) and other members as needed from the congregation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Encourage and enable the current congregation to grow by attracting
and welcoming new members to Christ Church. This includes recommendations
about ways to advertise our church in the local newspaper, and in new
(and existing) subdivisions such as mass mailings or handouts available
in neighborhood community centers.
2. Train lay visitors to visit newcomers, and to monitor these visits.
3. Make recommendations for new programs that would make newcomers become involved in the life of the congregation, and to help institute these programs.
4. Critique, at least annually, the entire program of the parish with the following criterion in mind: "What about Christ Church is inviting to newcomers and what is not?"
5. Monitor inactive members and endeavor to bring them back into the fold.
6. Make an annual report to the Vestry, including any budget requests.
7. Report orally or in writing at the Annual Congregational Meeting.
ELECTION/APPOINTMENT: Chairman selected by the Commission and approved by the Vestry. Other members recruited by the chairman and approved by the Vestry.
TERM OF SERVICE: Annual and renewable.
